On Wednesday, 3 March, TKH School of Business hosted His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan Bin Talal for a webinar titled: “Multicultural Competence and Cross-Cultural Understanding: A Pressing Pursuit During Covid-19,” which was held as part of our marketing classes. H.R.H. Prince El Hassan Bin Talal of Jordan is a Hashemite, who is member of the Royal Family of Jordan. He was educated first in Amman before attending schools in England and joining later Christ Church, a college of the University of Oxford. Prince El Hassan is fluent in Arabic, English, French, and German.

At the webinar His Royal Highness emphasized the need for cultural affinity and pluralism, particularly in difficult times such as Covid-19. A firm believer in consensus-making and respect for others, HRH underlined that the only way the world can overcome Covid-19 is if we all work together in pursuit of the common good and towards societies in which we can all grow, work, retire, and live in freedom and with dignity. Prince El Hassan also underlined that climate change can only be effectively addressed if and when all countries and all peoples come together in and by working together. If anything, stressed H.R.H, the pandemic illustrates the fact that the only way out of a global crisis is when all countries come together and collectively address the challenge.

The webinar drew attention from students and professionals from around the world. We are very grateful to H.R.H. Prince El Hassan Bin Talal for sharing his thoughts and hope to collaborate further – in the service of enriching our student learning experience – with a public figure widely regarded as one of the most intelligent and compassionate individuals in the region and in the world.
