Minister Of Higher Education Attends The Signing Of The Partnership Agreement Between El Sewedy Education And Coventry University

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, today attended the signing of the partnership agreement between El Sewedy Education and Coventry University for the opening of a branch of Coventry University within “The Knowledge Hub | International University Institution of Egypt” located in the New Administrative Capital.
The Ministry of Higher Education supports private entities to enhance higher education in Egypt under the new International Branch Campus (IBC) Law. The signing builds on strong existing links between the UK and Egyptian higher education sectors, which already see over 18,000 students in Egypt studying on UK university programmes.
The partnership agreement marks a new kind of academic collaboration in Egypt in line with its learning strategy, with top universities around the world working with private entities to provide students with excellent teaching, and a quality international education.
The partnership agreement marks the launch of “The Knowledge Hub | International University Institution of Egypt”.
Eng. Eng. Professor John Latham, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Coventry University, said: “We’re excited to be delivering our programmes in Egypt, and to be opening the door for young people in the country to experience the excellent teaching and learning environment which Coventry University has become known around the world for providing.”

In January 2018, the International Branch Campus (IBC) agreement – signed between Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and the UK’s Department of Education – created a leading new model for international higher education. It creates an opportunity for partner institutions to establish a base in another country to expand global outreach and student exchange. The educational system gives graduate students the opportunity to obtain a bachelors, post-graduate, and other various degrees from one of the participating scientific institutions.
This pioneering educational model offers an exceptional vision by creating common spaces to engage in a unique learning experience through research and innovation.
According to The Knowledge Hub’s new learning strategy, the classrooms will consist of groups of students working together on joint projects that go beyond the boundaries of traditional academies and universities. The success of these new educational communities depends on the collaboration and interaction among students and their professors.
Coventry University ranks 13th as the country’s top modern university in the Guardian University Guide 2019, and is top in the UK – and third in Europe – for how well it engages with its students according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Europe Teaching Rankings 2018. It also earned the title ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’ in the 2019 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide; the guide describes it as “one of the most innovative modern universities, bold with its vision of what the 21st-century student experience should be”
The next phase of the center will also provide access for newly-established startups to find investment opportunities among interested investors, grants and other funds to scale their businesses beyond incubation and face the challenges that come with growth and success.
One of the first outputs of this partnership is a series of events under the brand: “Young Talents – Entrepreneurship Day” and organized by El Sewedy Education, the Embassy of Italy in Cairo, E4Impact and Fekretak Sherketak, in partnership with AlexBank and the online magazine E7kky. The launch event will be on 22nd April 2020 and it will provide mentoring, networking opportunities, workshops and talks delivered by key figures in the market to entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. Furthermore, entrepreneurs attending the event will get a chance to present their ideas and get selected to the first incubation cycle by El Sewedy Education and E4Impact in Egypt, due to start in a few months.
