In an unprecedented event, NOVA University Lisbon inaugurated its first branch outside Portugal and Europe at The Knowledge Hub Universities on October 2nd making this day an extremely special; celebrating the branch’s inauguration and commencing induction for TKH-NOVA Class’26.
The NOVA Cairo Branch soft inauguration took place at TKH Campus with the presence of Key figures from both parties including Mr. Ihab Salama, CEO of El Sewedy Education and Vice-Chairman of Board of Trustees, Professor João Sàágua, Rector NOVA University Lisbon, H.E Manuela Franco, Portugal Ambassador to Egypt, Professor Deena Boraie, TKH Provost, Professor João Amaro de Matos, Vice Rector NOVA University Lisbon, Professor Francisco Caramelo, NOVA Cairo Branch Director along with Professor José Júlio Alferes, Dean of NOVA School of Science and Technology, Professor Miguel Castro Neto, Dean of NOVA Information Management School, and Dr. Pedro Brinca, representing the Dean of NOVA School of Business and Economics; joined by Nova Cairo Academic team and other invitees.
During his welcome note Mr. Ihab Salama said “Today is a great day for us all at TKH. We are witnessing a historic moment at the Knowledge Hub Universities, partnering up with NOVA University Lisbon to open the first ever Portuguese university branch outside Portuguese borders here at TKH has been a dream for more than 4 years, through which we faced a lot of hardships. However, with the dedication of NOVA University Lisbon’s team and the support of H.E Ambassador Manuela Franco, Portugal’s ambassador to Cairo, this dream is now a reality. NOVA is now at TKH and today we are not only inaugurating NOVA’s branch in Cairo, but we are also welcoming our first cohort of students, Class’26, on Campus”
Professor Joao Sàágua, NOVA University Lisbon Rector, added “As president of NOVA University Lisbon I am very excited to partner with The Knowledge Hub Universities and we are fully committed to delivering here high-quality European style education. For our students in Egypt, I would like to extend my warm welcome that now you are part of the NOVA community so be sure that we will do everything in our hands to ensure you have the best experience possible.”
H.E Manuela Franco stated that “It is really wonderful to be here today at day one of the new NOVA University Lisbon branch at TKH. I am really happy to see that this project that will bring the Portuguese experience to the Egyptian students. I am totally convinced that after or two years, there will be a whole new dynamic between the two countries. Having Egyptian students in a Portuguese University will bring the two societies together. They will learn more about each other and will see that a European country like Portugal is very close even though it is at the end of the Mediterranean”
NOVA University Lisbon branch at The Knowledge Hub Universities is offering five undergraduate programs in the areas of Management, Industrial Engineering & Management, Environmental Engineering, Information Management and Risk Management.
