NOVA University Lisbon, hosted by The Knowledge Hub Universities, recently welcomed the founders of the LokmaHaneya initiative for an inspiring and impactful session centered around community service and social responsibility.

The event began with an insightful presentation by the founders, who shared their journey since launching the initiative three years ago. What started as a Ramadan-based volunteering effort has evolved into a year-round operation supporting underprivileged families across Egypt through organized meal-packing initiatives. Their talk highlighted a strong commitment to infection control, food quality, and the operational growth that has led to the establishment of multiple branches nationwide.

The session continued with engaging presentations from our SBE Year 1 students on the theme “Volunteering and Social Impact.” Students reflected on their firsthand experiences volunteering with LokmaHaneya during Ramadan 2026, sharing how the initiative shaped their perspectives and empowered them to act as ambassadors of positive change.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony led by Prof. Francisco Caramelo, NOVA Cairo Branch Director, who awarded students Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their meaningful civic engagement and contributions.

Organized by Dr. Amira Al-Basiony, this initiative reflects NOVA’s strong commitment to project-based and community-based learning, bridging academic knowledge with real-world impact. The session was attended by NOVA faculty members and students, further reinforcing a shared dedication to social responsibility.

We look forward to continued collaboration between NOVA and the LokmaHaneya initiative, creating more opportunities for our students to engage, contribute, and make a lasting difference in their communities.
