Cairo, Egypt – May 15, 2025 – The Knowledge Hub Universities (TKH), the hosting campus of Coventry University Cairo Branch, celebrated a milestone in engineering excellence and innovation during its 3rd Annual Engineering Journey Expo, held under the theme: “Engineering Journey Expo”.
The event brought together students, alumni, academics, and distinguished industry leaders to explore the intersection of academic achievement and entrepreneurial ambition.
A key highlight of the expo was an exclusive panel discussion: “From Concept to Company: Navigating the Startup Journey” featuring three visionary figures who have shaped their respective industries:
- Ahmed Elsewedy, CEO of Elsewedy Electric, Coventry University Group Chancellor, renowned for pioneering energy solutions across the MENA region and globally.
- Ahmed Tarek, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Allianz Middle East Ship Management LLC Company, a leader in maritime operations and strategic business development.
- Wael Hamdy, Group Vice President, Elsewedy Electric
- Hossam Seifeldin: Executive Vice President & CEO Capgemini Egypt
- Abdelrahman Abdelatif, alumnus of the Coventry University School of Engineering, who offered firsthand insights into the transition from student innovation to startup execution.
The panellists shared personal journeys, strategic challenges, and practical advice on turning ideas into impactful ventures. Discussions covered the full startup lifecycle—from ideation and funding to scaling operations and navigating market dynamics—providing students with tangible takeaways on how to build resilient, innovative businesses.
In addition to the panel, the expo showcased a diverse array of student-led engineering projects, research initiatives, and prototype demonstrations, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to experiential learning and industry relevance. Faculty members, professionals, and peers explored innovations that reflect the technical skills and entrepreneurial mindsets being cultivated at Coventry University.
Mohamed M. Elshafey, Ph.D., P.Eng., FHEA, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the School of Engineering, Head of the School of Engineering, remarked:
