Coventry University and The Knowledge Hub Universities are proud to announce the appointment of Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, Chancellor of Coventry University and Founder and Chairman of The Knowledge Hub Universities, to Egypt’s newly formed National Council for Education, Research, and Innovation.
The appointment, ratified by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, recognises Eng. El Sewedy as one of the nation’s leading experts in the field of education and innovation. He joins the Council as part of a distinguished body of specialists tasked with shaping the country’s educational and research strategies to meet national development goals and the demands of a global economy.
The National Council for Education, Research, and Innovation was established with the primary aim of developing the state’s overarching policies in all forms and stages of education, research, and innovation. The Council operates directly under the President of Egypt and is headquartered in Cairo. It is responsible for aligning national educational outcomes with market needs and coordinating efforts across all educational and research institutions in the country.
Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy is a prominent Egyptian businessman and a respected figure in both industry and education. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Elsewedy Electric, one of the region’s leading energy and infrastructure conglomerates. Under his leadership, the company evolved from an electrical component trading business into a multinational manufacturing and engineering enterprise, with operations spanning several countries.
A graduate of Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering, Eng. El Sewedy has consistently championed the role of education in driving economic development. His work with The Knowledge Hub Universities and Coventry University in Egypt reflects a strong commitment to advancing access to world-class higher education and nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders.
