Global Recognition for Academic Excellence, Sustainability, and International Impact

Coventry University has achieved its highest-ever position in the QS World University Rankings, rising 40 places to rank 531st globally out of 1,503 evaluated institutions in the 2025 edition. This notable improvement reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, impactful research, and global engagement.

A standout aspect of the ranking is Coventry University’s continued strength in internationalisation. The institution ranks 35th globally for international students and 283rd for international research network—further evidence of its expanding global reach and commitment to fostering cross-border academic collaboration.

The Coventry University Group, which includes campuses in Coventry, London, Scarborough, Wrocław (Poland), and Egypt—through The Knowledge Hub Universities (TKH)—has also made a remarkable debut in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2025, placing in the top 200 at 190th overall. The group’s forward-thinking approach to education and innovation is enhanced by global partnerships across more than 70 institutions, providing transnational education to over 21,000 students worldwide.

Sustainability also remains at the core of the university’s strategy. Coventry University has advanced 90 places in the European rankings for sustainability, reaching 118th. This progress is backed by concrete initiatives, including a £13 million grant from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to install 1,300 solar panels and connect nine buildings to the district energy network in Coventry—an effort expected to cut carbon emissions by over 1,300 tonnes annually.

Commenting on the university’s success, Professor John Latham CBE, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Coventry University Group, said:

“Coventry University’s mission is creating better futures, and our upward trajectory in these rankings shows we are making a real difference, not only to our students but also our local and global communities. Our efforts to hit net zero by the end of the decade continue at speed, and we are delighted that these have been recognised in the QS World University Rankings, along with our dedication to offering high-quality education to thousands of students whether here on British shores or elsewhere across the globe.”

These achievements reinforce Coventry University’s growing reputation as a forward-looking, globally engaged institution—delivering exceptional education and research that shape a better, more sustainable future.
