The Knowledge Hub Universities Announces Prof. Mahmoud Allam as University President
As part of The Knowledge Hub Universities unwavering commitment to educational excellence, the university is pleased to announce the appointment of its President Dr. Mahmoud Allam.
Professor Allam has an extensive, 35-year-long, expertise in academia, industrial consultation, and financial acumen. Prior to joining The Knowledge Hub, Prof. Allam was the Associate Dean for Industrial Partnerships and Extended Education in the School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo.
“It brings me great gratification to take part in this journey and help build a foundation for an unprecedented educational experience in Egypt. I’m honored to work alongside El Sewedy Education and our faculty members. I sincerely believe that The Knowledge Hub is in good position to provide a one-of-a-kind learning experience, which will be highlighted by partnerships with world-class international universities linking to some of the industry’s leaders. We aspire to set a new benchmark for higher education in Egypt,” Prof. Allam stated.
The newly-appointed president was among the founding members of Nile University. He was founding Dean of the School of Communication & Information Technology, served as Assistant Provost for Academics, and Vice President for Finance & Administration.
Prof. Allam has a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1994, and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Cairo University in 1989 and 1985 respectively.

The School of Design and Media is led by Tony Eddison. Formerly, Professor Eddison was the head of Design at the University of Sunderland, UK in 2013 and the Campus Director of Middlesex University in Mauritius for two years 2008-2010. And he was the former Dean and Director of Global Engagement at Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design in Cyprus.
Moreover, Ebtissam Farid, School of Design and Media Associate Professor, has served as an Associate Professor at Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Architecture, Alexandria University since 2000. Professor Ebtissam is also the recipient of Tamayouz Excellence Award’s prize for women in Architecture 2018, and the State’s Excellence Award in 2019.
Assistant Professor Toby Mountain, former Assistant Professor of Coventry University, specializes in teaching film production, creative industries and reflective practice modules. He assists domestic and overseas undergraduate students.
Stratis Andreas Kanarachos is the Head of School of Engineering. Prof. Kanarachos has more than 18 years of academic experience. He heads Coventry University’s Centre for Connected & Autonomous Automotive Research and also serves as Director of Studies for PGR students. Stratis is the Supervisor of BSc & MSc student projects in Coventry University.
Mohamed El Shafey is Assistant Professor for the School of Engineering, he has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Carleton University, Ottawa. Shafey has obtained a Master Degree in Civil Engineering for his Utilization of Artificial Neural Network in the Evaluation of Level of Service in Canadian Airports research from the same university in 2003.
Hoda Mamdouh has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the School of Computing, she has a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, USA. Mamdouh also has a M.Sc. in Computer Science from The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The American University in Cairo.
